Poor service once they have your money

I bought a Certified Pre-Owned Jaguar online. Up until they had the money in the bank (wired to them), service was attentive and generally responsive. Once I got there, the execution was very poor and they were less interested in my well being. Perhaps because Jaguar is the lowest cost of the cars they sell, they definitely do not make you feel like a valued customer. Their poor logistics cost me an extra day (I flew out there and had to spend the night and the entire next day waiting), they didn't have time to go over any of the vehicle's features with me (though they made me sign something that said they did). By far the worst luxury car dealership experience I've had. Thankfully, they will not be the dealer I have the long-term service relationship with.

Based upon the reviews here, I almost didn't buy a car from them - particularly since I live on the other side of the country. However, I checked some other sources and one of the local German car repair shops and they were much more positive. My salesman, Mike Jackson, was upfront with me and we quickly negotiated a price. We handled most of the deal remotely. I flew in to test drive the car and finalize the paperwork. I was out of the dealership in less than 90 minutes. They told me an out of state title would take 3-6 weeks and they overnighted to me in 3 weeks. I didn't have any problems registering the car in my state. Overall, it was one of my best car buying experiences.

DONT BUY REMOTELY AND SPEND HOURS ON THE PAPERWORK

In general they have a nice selection of vehicles but theyre not looking at retaining long-term customers. They just want a quick sale. Specific Issues that I had in trying to purchase a Jaguar XKR from them remotely in August 2015:Paperwork: The paperwork was a fiasco. The numbers were inconsistent with what we discussed over the phone and in the end the purchase amount less the agreed upon fees less the down payment should have equaled what was remaining, but did not.Desert Motors tried to schedule an external company to meet with me to sign and notarize the paperwork. Besides the day and time miscommunicated between my sales person at Desert Motors (Kyle) and the finance person (Davin), the paperwork sent was much more extensive than what was emailed to me for pre-review and the numbers were not the same as in the pre-review. The handwritten contract was almost illegible. The car had 1400 miles on it and was being sold as new, untitled, executive driven vehicle. As Kyle stated, it was as new as new gets. A day or so before finalizing/signing the paperwork Kyle informed me he could not complete the Carfax paperwork to guarantee the vehicle because he said it only applied to preowned cars and this car was still new and on MSO. He also said, the car is new with some miles on it and is considered an untitled factory demo that is why you are leasing it so inexpensively. Yet on their website it stated that it qualified for a Carfax report. Below are bullet points taken straight from Desert Motors website, they stated:No Total Loss Reported to CARFAX."No Structural/Frame Damage Reported to CARFAX."Vehicle Qualifies for the CARFAX Buyback Guarantee."No Manufacturer Recalls Reported to CARFAX."No Indication of an Odometer RollbackNo Accidents Damage Reported to CARFAX."No Airbag Deployment Reported to CARFAX."At the eleventh hour prior to delivery we were informed the vehicle was going into the body shop for some repairs, not what I would consider as new as new gets. When the vehicle finally arrived, it was missing hook screws in the trunk, the windshield wiper plastic nut cover and the cargo net (which was stated in the write-up as included). When I confronted Kyle about these missing items, he stated he sold the vehicle as-is (like it was a used car). Dealing with him was infuriating, when I asked about the Carfax I could not get one because the car was new, when I asked for the missing pieces to be provided the car was used and sold as is, it cant be both. After some pressure Kyle promised to send those items to me (this never occurred).Kyle and Elaina (Finance Director) promised to put some swag in the car when it shipped (that never happened either). They also stated, we would not be disappointed (well we were).Although Desert Motors required and accepted our proof of insurance, we received a letter from US Bank (who financed the lease) about 1 month after receiving the vehicle that we had to LOWER our deductible for them (from $5k to $500) to meet their lease agreement requirements. This should have been caught by the dealership and pointed out for us so we could have rectified it prior to delivery. It also took about 8 weeks to get our plates even though we paid this dealership about $125 to have a special service expedite them. They didnt even ship the car with temporary plates.

I guess you need to "lick it" to really buy it!

Desert European Motorcars listed a vehicle I wanted on their website. I inquired on Jan 11, and after a series of emails and phone conversations, we agreed on a deal on January 14th. Salesperson agreed to pick me up from the airport as I would fly in from out of town to pick it up. I offered to put down deposit via Paypal or wire, however was told that it was not necessary at this point. On Jan 15th I was informed that the car had been sold to someone else! For those familiar with the Toyota commercial, I guess I needed to lick the car to really place my claim on it.What was even more aggravating than having the car sold out from under me, was that the GM Shad never answered three simple questions 1. how did it happen and could be prevented in the future 2. help me find a similar car in the Porsche network or 3. get creative on another car to make it worth my while. He never replied to emails, and only left voicemails for me...I was never able to get him live on the phone...always in a meeting. Absolutely gutless and lacking in integrity.

The new Audi dealership in Rancho Mirage is fantastic. We were treated like royalty, very professional without pretentious behavior. Salesman was product knowledgeable, friendly, and gave us a great experience. Everyone was respectful, friendly, and treated us like family members. Audi A5 was vehicle of our choice but drove three models including the new A3 (super fun, handling was impeccable, with an unbeatable price). This was hands down the best auto purchase in over forty years.

I bid on a cayman on ebay and went over the reserve. They canceled the auction In the last four hours and claimed they sold it to someone during those last few hours. They clearly didn't want to sell it for the reserve price I went over so they lied about it to ebay and to me. The car still is up for sale on their website. I should have known better, in their only feedback they pulled the same thing on someone else. Hey idiotic, lying dealer why don't you make your reserve price higher then you won't have to lie, lie, lie. I'm glad they showed their colors before I bought from them. Beware!

Worth the distance to buy here.

While I have a home in the desert, I live in Los Angeles. I'm so glad we met Eric Brooks and the team at Desert European Motors over the holiday weekend in Palm Springs. I'm driving the RR of my dreams (my third) and it is the best dealership experience to date. Clear concise communication, friendly, professional, fair and abundantly generous with customer service. They are also happy, good-natured people as a whole. They seem to love what they do and genuinely made it a pleasure to do business with them. The thoughtful touch of placing the sales guy, service manager, and general manager's business cards inside my owner's handbook including each of their mobile numbers says a lot too.I can't wait to buy my next new car from them -- again.

This dealer will sell you a car without an insurance. They will not notify the bank or insurance company. In the event of an accident, you're on your own (even if your insurance is paid) the second insurance that they claim in your lease agreement as a backup is a total scam! This dealer cost our family $10,000 for not turning in the correct documentation. Buy/lease your car elsewhere!!!

We just moved into the valley and saw this place on our drive to our home, it looked real nice. I recently went in to Porsche and i took a friend. I was turning 18 next week and my father told me to go look around and see what like and to tell him later. So we went out to the dealer and when we arrived a 911 caught my eye, me and my friend got close to it and i was looking thru the window of it and then a dark haired man ran out and rudely told us what do you want, i said I'm looking for a car i might purchase and this one i liked best, he rudely said that's cute but i doubt you can afford any car here, we instantly left and told him he lost a customer. My father gave me a large limit of what i could get, it was well within the budget, and funny when we left i brought my fathers Bentley there and when we went back to it he ran at us saying HEY when we got in like thinking it wasn't ours, like we stole it from them, he stopped and said oh. We ignored him and left, we took our business to another dealer the next day, far but worth it and will be purchasing a car similar to the one i wanted. Huge improvement in customer service, the complete opposite of the way we were treated at Desert European. Will never recommend this dealer to anyone.

Got our new Range Rover Sport two weeks ago and am really pleased. Alan Leighton (Salesman) really took good care of us. No pushy dealer tactics, just honest information and attention to detail. The electronics that control the suspension on this car are truly amazing and all the creature comforts make you feel like it was really worth the money. I Recommend this dealership without reservation.
