TrueCar was helpful in finding my exact vehicle. The dealership experience was terrible. These guys know very little about the cars they are selling. Thank goodness I was informed before my purchase. The sales lady Jackey actually suggested my Ridgeline gets such great gas mileage because of the 4 cylinder engine and CVT transmission, which my truck had neither it's a 6 cylinder with a 6 speed transmission smh. They are money hungry and lived up to the typical stereotypes of car salesman. During the trade in process the salesman pulls up suggested trade in values of my car ranging from $17800-19800 in good condition (my car is in Excellent Condition). He then returns to me with an offer of $14500, which is completely absurd for a 4 year old Acura!!! He says "this is all we can pay for this type of car!" So it took 30 mins of back and forth debating and him lying about why they can't pay my cars actual trading value for me to agree to $17000, which is well below Blue book. I own my decision I'm an adult, but these are terrible tactics by this dealer to swindle customers. So in the finance office the lady Heather is doing her job trying to get me to purchase more items that I'm not interested in. She gets to the part about this "additional car alarm" and I tell her I'm sure the factory alarm will suffice. Well I'm guessing that didn't sit well with her because she calls the salesman over and literally says in an annoyed voice "rip the car alarm out, he doesn't want it!" I was thinking to myself unbelievable, I guess it wasn't enough I just bought a $45,000 truck from you! So I ordered a few accessories which I gave very specific details about what I wanted, like I said prior I was informed about the vehicle before showing up. The salesman told me no problem your accessories are in LA we can have them here in ONE day. So I was like great. Four days later I receive a voicemail from the parts department asking "what color roof rack would you like." I know I told the salesman specifically Silver! So I call and get the run around, I'm not kidding it took me calling back several times for two days before getting someone who could help. Apparently if you don't talk to the exact person who left the voicemail no one in the parts department has a clue of what's going on. For the four days I couldn't get ahold of the gentleman who left the voicemail I kept getting transferred to a lady in the parts department who was seemingly oblivious to what was going on. I would tell her "I'm calling because I received a call asking what color roof rack I wanted and I can tell you," and she would reply "let me check in the back for your parts." What is she checking the back for, there's no parts because they haven't been ordered yet! So when she returned from checking the back she says "your parts aren't in yet." I'm thinking ya you don't say smh. So I again explain to her that I need to update my order to reflect the color I wanted, and she suggested I speak with the operator! To say the least we got no where. SO I have to drive to the dealership to physically find the gentleman who left me the message and turns out to be the one bright spot in my entire experience with this dealership, I think his name is Keenen. Nicest guy ever. Had my experience here ended with Keenen I probably wouldn't be leaving this review, BUT the saga continues. About a week after my purchase I receive a call from Heather in finance suggesting there's a "high payoff" on my trade of $150ish or so. She tells me that she needs me to come in and pay this immediately. I told her to contact my bank that financed the truck and get it straightened out, and ask why she would be bothering the customer with such matters! I said "you guys put the pay off amount on the finance documents, I didn't!" She replies "yes that's true, I copied what was on your credit report." Well why is this my problem if you documented the wrong information!? She says she would talk to her manager and try and get the fee waived. Two days later I receive a letter in the mail THREATENING legal action against me if I didn't pay the $150 in 7 days. I can't tell you how upset all of this made me and has completely ruined what should be an exciting new car purchase. I WILL NEVER EVER return to Honda of El Cajon or recommend them to a single soul.

Today I had to take my car in for the 3rd time for an airbag recall. I had to go in the third time because one of the warranty technicians scanned the code wrong after installing the passenger side airbag. My Nguyen had the misfortune of having to notify me that I had to come in again. Needless to say she got the brunt of my anger and frustration! I can't say enough about how well My dealt with the situation and diffusing my temper! She was very professional and bent over backwards to make sure I was in and out of there quickly when I had to come in again. My was a pleasure to work with and is an outstanding employee. You really should make the technicians have to call the customer so they can get a sense of how much unnecessary frustration and inconvenience they cause the customer! My even personally washed my car and presented me with a goodie bag upon leaving the dealership!
