Recalls & Defects

VIN 1GNSCCKC8GR258448 may have been recalled. Check full report for more information

A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.

I was deciding between a Land Rover LR4, Toyota Land Cruiser or Sequoia, Mercedes GL series, Volvo XC90 and BMW X5. So, a wide range of choices. I test drove them all except the Mercedes. I have owned 2 Mercedes vehicles before, and I know what I am getting. I really couldn't get past the looks of the Mercedes. I hate, I mean HATE the minivan-ification of most SUVs. I owned a Honda Pilot when they first came out and they now look like an ugly sister to the Odyssey. My SUV of choice since 2005 has been a 2005 and a 2010 XC90, both top of the line decked out when purchased. Here is why I did not buy the other models and chose the Trailblazer. LAND ROVER: LR4, their sales people are freaks and they are super paranoid about selling to someone who will export to China. They made me sitter for 45 minutes while they googles by house and e-mail address. Then, they had so many in stock, but only offered MSRP, unlike dealerships a bit further away with half their inventory. They also lowballed my on my trade-in. No thank you. Car itself was cute, but even more of a gas guzzler than the Tahoe. Controls were okay, technology was not intuitive or very thoughtful. TOYOTA SEQUIOA: I loved the cargo space, but that was about it. Cheap controls and interior, the engine is super loud when accelerating fast. The Land Cruiser 3rd row seats doesn't even fold!!! I need cargo space. BMW SUV love that it comes in diesel, but try to find one, and the cargo space SUCKS! Finally, the Volvo. My local dealership's service department has gone way downhill fast, but mostly I drove the new XC90 and HATED IT!!! I was very surprised because I was this close to ordering one sight unseen like I had my other two Volvos. The interior contains no remnants of the Volvo button system. It is all digital and not intuitive at all. They few buttons that do remain are super cheap looking, I mean very ugly. Even the new remote key is cheap and ugly looking. My one I traded in was the last year it had a V8, and the acceleration was mediocre. I was very disappointed. The Tahoe plusses: GREAT INTERFACE!!!! I don't think you need to be tech savvy to get it, but there are two modes in my LTZ and you just need to choose one or the other. There are still enough knobs and buttons so you don't feel like you are a slave to the touchscreen. The bells and whistles are wonderful. The interface can connect with your iPhone and you can see and hear and send (verbal) messages, etc. The 2016 seats are truly COOLING (unlike the BMW). I think the display and controls are really well laid out and look durable and classy. I needed a vehicle with AWD/4WD and this has it. The cargo space is good but it is a bit high, and I am short. I LOVE the second row captains chairs that have hated seats!!! And, it doesn't look like a freaking minivan!!! I was surprised that they XC90 won the awards that it has, it really sucks. I was also supposed at the Tahoe's bad review. There is no accounting for taste. I suggest you test drive and price them out according to your own must haves. I LOVE my Tahoe.
